Good afternoon ,

It’s been an absolutely whirlwind start to the year - this is the first time in a while we’ve had the time to take stock of what we’ve achieved! So I thought I’d briefly pause to deliver some good news.

A few weeks ago, we launched a Crowdfunder with an ambitious £20,000 target to help us reach doctors ahead of the British Medical Association (BMA) survey on assisted dying. With a groundswell of support from people just like you, we blew that target out of the water. In fact, we raised closer to £30,000.

We’ve been putting these resources to good work. Over the past month we’ve secured three full page adverts in the British Medical Journal - reaching doctors with the message that diverse, expert medical opinion supports our position.

We’ve also distributed hundreds of thousands of leaflets to doctors, run adverts on social media and supported senior doctors to advocate for our cause.

It’s still early days, but it’s looking like this has had a positive impact. The BMA survey had a higher than average response rate, making it the largest survey of British medical opinion carried out on this issue, ever.

The results are not yet public and the BMA will not vote on their policy until their Annual Representatives’ Meeting in June. I’ll keep you up to speed on any developments.

In the meantime, we’re keeping the momentum up and the pressure on. The case for change is too strong to be ignored.

Keep fighting the good fight,

Zach Moss,

Dignity in Dying
