John,
The United States is behind other wealthy countries in a lot of ways,
especially when it comes to healthcare and workers’ rights. As concerns
over coronavirus continue to worsen and the World Health Organization
officially declared it a pandemic, it’s become all the more clear that the
U.S. desperately needs guaranteed paid sick leave. Now.

Right now, there’s no federal law guaranteeing workers paid sick days. So
while medical experts urge workers across the country to stay home if
they’re sick, too many people – especially those in the service industry –
simply can’t if they want to keep paying the bills and putting food on the
table.
That means there’s millions of people who are forcing themselves to go to
work sick, or who can’t take care of their sick family members or kids
whose schools are closed, because they can’t afford to lose a paycheck.
Congress should have passed guaranteed paid sick leave a long time ago,
but now it’s all the more urgent. While Democrats have introduced
legislation to do this, Senate Republicans just turned their backs on
workers and blocked the bill yesterday.
[ [link removed] ]We can’t stand for this. In the face of this economic injustice and
public health crisis, we must demand Congress do their jobs and act NOW.
Add your name to demand both chambers of Congress get to work and pass
universal paid sick leave ASAP!

Together, we’ll get through this.
