Dear John,
Labor and their accomplices in the Greens are waging a war on
farming in Australia.
This year they’ve moved to marginalise and ultimately shut
down live exports, pollute prime agricultural land with infrastructure
to support their suicidal urgency for renewable energy, and take more
water from irrigators and regional communities for the Basin Plan.
They signed up to yet another international agreement to limit methane
emissions, the primary source of which in Australia is our livestock
industry.
This past week they’ve also rushed through the so-called
Nature Repair Market Bill, which will have the effect of forcing
farmers to use their land for ‘nature repair’ instead of growing our
food and fibre.
This legislation was the subject of an ongoing parliamentary
inquiry, which was suddenly cut short by Labor and the Greens so they
could rush it through Parliament. The dirty deal between the two
anti-farming parties to get the bill passed also means the Greens have
finally gotten their way to change environmental legislation so that
any coal, oil or gas project in Australia can be shut
down.
One Nation supports our world-leading farmers and
agricultural industries. We support the right to farm. We support
vital projects that improve water security for agriculture.
Conservatively, Australian farmers produce enough food every year for
about 75 million people – three times our national population. It’s
also some of the best quality food in the world, because our farmers
know how to look after their land and are forced to compete on a
quality basis due to higher production costs.
If you think your grocery prices are high now (and you’re
right), just wait until the effects of the Labor-Green offensive
against Australia’s farmers make themselves felt in the near future.
Many industries are important to Australia: mining, services,
education, transport, you name it; but we don’t eat iron ore, or bank
accounts, or diplomas. There is no more important role in society than
the one played by our farmers.
This attack on our farmers is just one of the reasons why
One Nation moved a vote of no-confidence in the
Albanese Labor government this week. The other
reasons are many and obvious: out-of-control immigration, the rising
cost of living, the housing and rental crisis, the release of
criminals from immigration detention into the Australian community,
rising crime, and – once again – soft, weak borders open to the
people-smuggling syndicates. Labor is losing the plot and is unfit to
govern Australia.
