Nottingham and Derby have received 161m for transport improvements the only bid to receive the full amount requested from the Department of Transport.

This forms the second, major phase of the Governments Transforming Cities Fund, aimed at improving connections between major employment sites and promoting active travel and public transport.

Fair promotes job opportunities in Nottingham North

People living in the north of the city attending Nottingham North Jobs Fair in March are being offered free health checks as well as opportunities to find work.

The organisers Nottingham City Council and the Rebalancing the Outer Estates Foundation have worked with Public Health England this year to increase the amount of support available to local people, creating a fair which will help residents find work, get free health checks and live healthier lifestyles.

Council calls on Government for support to ease the impact of Highways Englands Clifton Bridge works

Nottingham City Councils portfolio holder for transport has written to the Secretary of State for Transport to ask for help in easing the impact on the city of Highways Englands works on Clifton Bridge.

The council has outlined a set of proposals totalling 1m for Highways England to consider funding which would help to keep traffic moving and encourage the use of public transport.

Bridge named after Boots chemist who helped discover ibuprofen

A pedestrian and cycle bridge on to the Boots site and Nottingham Enterprise Zone is to be officially named after one of its former employees who revolutionised global medicine.

The Dr Stewart Adams Bridge will be unveiled in honour of the Nottingham scientist whose pioneering work in the 1960s led to the discovery of ibuprofen.

Queens Drive park-and-ride to open again after severe flooding

Nottingham City Council has announced that Queens Drive park-and-ride will reopen to the public on Monday (9 March).

The facility has been closed since unprecedented rainfall on the weekend of 15 and 16 February caused by Storm Dennis, following so closely behind Storm Ciara the week before.
