Dear Friends and Supporters,
On Wednesday, February 19th, Pacific Research Institute held its 2nd Annual California Ideas in Action Conference in Sacramento. Dozens of attendees enjoyed a stimulating afternoon discussion on how free-market ideas can best address the major problems facing California in the new decade.
The Hon. Janice Rogers Brown, former U.S. Court of Appeals judge for the D.C. Circuit and former Associate Justice of the California Supreme Court, was the keynote speaker for this year's conference.
In her address, which you can watch here ([link removed]) , she discussed the threats to the U.S. Constitution and American democracy because of current cultural trends such as identity politics, political correctness and speech codes.
Other presentations and panel discussions focused on:
* How the Governor could use his executive powers to help the state prevent future wildfires and mass power blackouts;
* How embracing entrepreneurship is one of the most important things California policymakers could do to lift people out of poverty and help more people join the middle class;
* How school choice can help students with special needs; and
* How California’s growing homeless crisis is impacting nearly everyone, especially those living in big cities like Los Angeles, San Francisco, and Sacramento.
