The North Carolina Auditor evaluates state government agencies, such as universities, colleges, and the judiciary and ensures that these agencies comply with state law, use appropriate financial controls, and meet performance standards.
In other words, the role ensures that taxpayer dollars get to the people and causes we all care about.
The Auditor also serves on the Local Government Commission, overseeing operations for numerous towns, cities, and counties. My role as a former County Commissioner in North Carolina’s most populous county will be particularly helpful in carrying out this responsibility.
With a focus on integrity, accountability and transparency, I have stepped up to serve the remainder of the State Auditor’s term and I have filed to run for the office on the 2024 ballot.
