45,000 Black lives are lost to smoking each year – mostly from menthol cigarettes. But that hasn’t stopped Big Tobacco from pulling out all the stops in a desperate attempt to protect their bottom line.

Here’s the scoop: After meeting with the tobacco industry and its army of lobbyists last month, the Biden Administration announced yesterday that they will delay issuing a final rule eliminating menthol cigarettes until next March – and perhaps much longer. This delay prioritizes politics and the profits of the tobacco industry over saving Black lives.
