Dear friend,
I’m excited to tell you about the Media Access Awards with Easterseals! If you’re searching for a collection of movies and TV shows to check out with excellent disability representation and talent, then look no further.
This weekend, the Media Access Awards with Easterseals honored inclusive and authentic depictions of disability in film and television, in front of and behind the camera. What’s even more exciting is that this made history as the first awards show hosted by two deaf performers, CODA stars and Academy Award winners, Marlee Matlin and Troy Kotsur, and it was broadcast on PBS.
This was made possible thanks to years of collaboration with media and entertainment partners through the Easterseals Disability Film Challenge.
We are thrilled that this amazing show celebrating disability got the long overdue recognition it deserves. Honorees included Lauren “Lolo” Spencer who receives the first-ever Easterseals Impact Award, presented by Easterseals Southern California board member Nic Novicki, and Simon Cowell receiving the Norman Lear-Geri Jewell Lifetime Achievement Award.
You can catch the replay of celebratory event in the PBS app and at this link: https://www.pbssocal.org/shows/2023-media-access-awards-with-easterseals/episodes/2023-media-access-awards-with-easterseals
As always, thank you for your support and dedication to seeing full equity, inclusion and access for all!
