What you will be doing: The Contracts and Procurement Division (C&P) is currently hiring a Procurement Strategist. This leadership position helps staff in their development by means of advising, coaching, and mentoring in all aspects of procurement, and leads complex and challenging procurements and contracts within the area of goods and services. In this role, you will be responsible for helping state agencies and political subdivisions access effective commercial solutions, using state buying power to improve the value of every dollar spent, and making it easy to do business with the state. You will interpret and apply statewide procurement and contracting laws, rules, policies, and best practices, and help draft procurement procedures for C&P.
Who we are looking for: You are experienced in applying critical thinking, project management and listening to understand techniques to consult on complex procurement and contract issues, and best procurement practices, and small business participation opportunities. In terms of your leadership style, you are an effective coach and a mentor to staff, and an advocate of practices and working conditions that achieve inclusion in the workforce and in the way we serve the public. The preferred candidate would have knowledge of state systems, processes, and procedures.
