Before this, I was the campaign manager for Danica Roem’s Virginia State Senate campaign. Not only did we successfully elect the first transgender State Senator in the South – but we also took back full control of the Virginia State Assembly, ensuring Republicans won’t be able to pass their medieval anti-choice agenda.
It was a tough race that we only won by a couple of percentage points. Virginia is a swing state, and Republicans poured millions of dollars into defeating our campaign.
But we didn’t get bogged down in partisan games. We focused on connecting voters on the ground and talking about the issues that matter most.
Kirsten has built an incredible people-powered campaign here in Arizona. Like Danica, she’s facing down a tremendous amount of Republican spending. Control of the legislature — and the future of abortion rights — hinge on this race.
