Yesterday’s report on how The Medical University of South Carolina — a state-supported medical institution where I used to work — bowed to political pressure from the far-right South Carolina legislature is personal for me.
Let’s be clear: Yes, when the hospital’s decisions became fodder for a political attack against me, it put me and my family in harm’s way — and that was scary and hard. But what’s more, when it blocked my coworkers from coming to my defense with things like facts and leading medical opinions —
it allowed for dangerous misinformation to put children’s lives at risk.
Simply put: The hospital let politics get in the way of doing what’s best for children and their families. That’s one of the reasons why I started Their Future PAC.
Now, we need to raise $4,500 in the next 48 hours to fund our work to elect a Kids Frist Majority to make sure this type of political fear mongering NEVER happens at the expense of our kids again — can you rush a donation of $10 or any amount to help?
If you've stored your payment information with ActBlue Express, your donation will process immediately.

As a medical professional, I had to watch as healthcare leaders charged with putting patient care first, made decisions that threatened children’s safety, for what the legislature’s Freedom Caucus celebrated as a
political victory. Our kids deserve better. They deserve to have adults at all levels of government who will fight for their right to life-saving healthcare.
Instead, they have extremists in Congress and statehouses all across this country who hold hostage tax-payer dollars to push their personal beliefs on the medical community; who bully and traumatize children into suicidal ideation.
That’s why I need you to join me in this fight. We need to put leaders in the halls of power who will put kids first. Please chip in $10 in the next 48 hours to help protect our kids:
Until the kids are alright,
Dr. Annie Andrews
