This morning, I was on CNN to discuss last night’s outrageous Republican presidential debate and the ridiculous field of candidates the GOP is putting forward.

We’re not up against our parents’ Republican Party. This field of GOP candidates is the weirdest, most far-right, and most extreme I’ve seen in my lifetime. They’re bragging about banning books, attacking the LGBTQ+ community, championing atrocious 6-week abortion bans, and more. 

The Republican Party has fallen deeply out of step with a large majority of Americans. But even so, we have an extremely tough fight ahead of us. If we’re going to avoid another 2016 and the four disastrous years that followed, we can’t afford to take our foot off the gas for one second. 

As we approach our first and only public fundraising deadline of the year on December 31, we need to make it clear that Minnesotans and Americans of all backgrounds are ready to stand up and defend our democracy.
