Hey John,

The GOP loves to throw rocks and hide their hands. However, last night, we got to see the actual soul of the 2023 GOP. They’re not hiding anymore. The truth is, there is no post-Trump GOP. “Mainstream conservatives,” nibbling around the edges of fascism, were completely overwhelmed by the fascist rhetoric of DeSantis and Ramaswamy at the GOP debate last night. 

Trump was, as usual a no-show to the debate, a sign of both his 50 point lead in the field and his complete contempt for the democratic process. The 2023 GOP debates are less an exercise in campaigning on policy to educate voters and more a casting couch for the B actors who are starring in Donald Trump’s shitshow, and we are all the unwilling audience. 

There is more that we can do than watch, though.

Check your voter registration status, especially if you're a new voter or haven't voted recently, at Vote.org. Register if needed, and help your friends do the same.

Research the candidates 

It’s easy to think that all the candidates are the same. They are not. Fascism is not the same as conservative politics. We have a long way to go to reach the promise made by American democracy. We can work for the future that we all deserve while at the same time recognizing that MAGA fascists present an existential threat to our country NOW. We must be unequivocal about what we are facing.
