Patriot,
The Deep State is working overtime this week.
They've been twisting arms to help ensure Section 702 of the
Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act - the unconstitutional,
massive warrantless surveillance program the Deep State has
abused to spy on Americans for years - doesn't go away.
One way or another, Section 702 will be on the House floor next
week.
Two competing bills were just passed, yesterday and today, by the
House Judiciary Committee and the House Intelligence Committee.
The bill passed by the Judiciary Committee yesterday, the
"Protect Liberty and End Warrantless Surveillance Act" (H.R.
6570), is very likely the best "reform" bill we will get,
although we are still reading amendments from the committee to
make sure it is a bill we can support.
The bill passed by the Intelligence Committee today, the falsely
named "FISA Reform and Reauthorization Act," contains no reforms
and actually expands FISA powers.
It should be called the Surveillance State Protection Act.
This odious Deep State surveillance bill passed the Intelligence
committee so fast it'd make your head spin.
No real debate. No questions. No objections. The bill hasn't even
been assigned a number yet, and it was reported from committee
within minutes, without even adding a comma.
We need to nip this one in the bud.

And in the meantime, members of the Freedom Caucus are furious -
as they should be - the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA)
just finalized by a conference committee yesterday contains a
provision to extend Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence
Surveillance Act - with no reforms - for another four months.
This is on top of many other disappointments with the NDAA, as
the "compromise" bill drops everything many "conservatives"
wanted, spends more American money on foreign interests, and
worst of all, extends Section 702 of FISA.
This is further evidence that nothing will change under House
Speaker Mike Johnson's leadership. As Rep. Chip Roy (R-TX) put
it, this is "strike two-and-a-half - if not more."
"We didn't sit there all day negotiating a strong bipartisan FISA
reform to have a four-month extension without reforms piled on a
[wretchedly bad] NDAA bill, which is exactly what the Speaker
just did," Roy added.
"This was a total sell-out of conservative principles and a huge
win for Democrats," Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) lamented.
We will update you on critical action on the NDAA soon, so keep
your eyes on your email.
In the meantime, please be sure to send a quick message to your
Representative telling them to OPPOSE the Intelligence
Committee's phony reform bill.

P.S. Everything is moving quickly in the House and Senate right
now. In the Senate, the public can't even get a copy of the FISA
legislation they're currently negotiating.
In the House, we have two competing FISA reform bills, one that
appears to be serious, and the other that is obviously a red
herring and would actually expand the Surveillance State's
unconstitutional spy schemes.
Tell your Representative to OPPOSE the Intelligence Committee's
spy bill.
