Not surprisingly, women have great solutions

Hi John,
Can you guess what family planning, vegetable gardens, and tree planting have in common?
They’re all solutions developed by women and girls in northern Kenya to address the harmful impacts of climate change in their communities.
When Ipas-supported community groups in this drought-stricken region partnered with local women, they knew what they wanted: information to help them manage their own reproductive lives, the ability to grow their own food close to home, and to plant trees to improve the local environment. See a beautiful photo story about this innovative project here ([link removed]) .
At Ipas, we know that climate change disproportionately impacts women and girls—including their sexual and reproductive health—because they so often lack power. And we’re so happy to see the international community is starting to recognize this too. Our staff who are currently attending the 28th United Nations Climate Change Conference, often referred to as COP28, are participating in a variety of events focused on the vital importance of including sexual and reproductive health in all efforts to build climate resilience. This is great news! But there’s still so much to do.
Please support our work to promote women-led climate justice AND reproductive justice. Both are essential for a world where women and girls can choose their own futures.
When you donate to Ipas, you help us advocate in international spaces like COP28 to ensure reproductive health and abortion access are part of the solution—and you help us partner with local groups like those in northern Kenya that make women’s solutions to climate change a reality.
