Nearly 80 billion land-based animals are farmed annually, mostly confined to factory farms. They are deprived of any quality of life and suffer every minute of their lives from birth to death. Many never see sunlight or enjoy a moment without pain or confinement. World Animal Protection is working to end their misery by calling on governments to ban factory farms urging the industry to change their cruelest practices, and advocating and promoting plant-based alternatives.

Countless bears, elephants, and big cats are trapped in vicious cycles of exploitation and abuse. Bears are kept in cages for decades so that their bile can be extracted and sold for traditional medicine. Elephants are trapped in roadside zoos, coerced into performing tricks, and forced to carry tourists on their backs. Lions are bred in captivity only to be born to die. First, used as photo props when they are cubs, then as a victim of canned hunting experiences before their bones and bodies are ultimately ground up for traditional medicine at death. World Animal Protection is on a mission to give these amazing animals the life they deserve, free from cruel exploitation for profit.
