Newsom Homeless Encampment Plan an Overly Costly Solution at Best

On November 27^th, Governor Newsom announced ([link removed]) a $300 million commitment to move more homeless Californians from homeless encampments into housing. The Governor’s focus on removing encampments is right, but unfortunately his approach will be an overly costly solution at best.

Prop 47 Never Stood a Chance

Nearly 3/4 of all Prop 47 thieves and drug dealers are re-arrested. Roughly the same number were re-arrested before Prop 47’s passage and they reoffend at a higher rate than former state prison inmates. Worse, this has been occurring for 9 years.
