First, we hope you and your family are equipped and ready to navigate the Coronavirus epidemic that has evidently reached New York City.
If you have not already, we encourage you to look through the city’sonline resources, which includes information on symptoms, prevention, and treatment protocol.
We wanted to let you know about three upcoming events related to petition season, which recently kicked off for state and local Democratic primaries.
1. This Sunday, District Leaders Doug Schneider and Lori Knipel will be preparing, binding, and collecting ballot access petitions. Doug and Lori are longtime friends of BYD and, if you can make it, this is an exciting opportunity to get inside the nitty-gritty of politics and ballot access. They will be working from the basement of Temple Agudath Shalom, at 3714 18th Avenue (next to the Dunkin Donuts off Coney Island Avenue). If you want to participate, please arrive at around 10:30am. Hand sanitizer will be provided.
2. Our endorsed candidate for the 51st Assembly District, Génesis Aquino, will be “hosting” a virtual phone bank this Sunday. Please follow the Facebookevent page this weekend from our friends at South Central Brooklyn United for Progress for more details.
3. On Sunday March 22nd we will be holding aDay of Action for Jesse Pierce, our endorsed candidate for District Leader in the 52nd Assembly District. We’ll be meeting at the Strong Rope Brewery in Gowanus at 574 President St. at 1:00 PM.
Once again, please stay safe and clean during this time! Remember not to shake hands, as the WHO and CDC are recommending limited physical contact. We hope to see you soon, and we’ll keep you updated on new developments related to these events and other matters.
