Dear AFGE Family,

Each year, the Women’s and Fair Practices Departments award the Augusta Y. Thomas Civil Rights Award to four dedicated unionists who exemplify what it means to be true champions for civil, human, women, and workers’ rights in four areas of service:

  • Education and Training
  • Organizing and Member Mobilization
  • Legislative and Political Action
  • Representation through Litigation

Click here to learn more about the requirements for this award and to fill out an electronic nomination form.

We encourage AFGE locals, councils, districts, and general members to nominate individuals who exemplify NVP Emeritus Augusta Y. Thomas’s legacy of fighting for equality and justice for all workers. Learn more about Augusta Y. Thomas here.

The deadline for submitting nominations is January 31, 2024, at 5 PM ET. All winners will be announced and awarded during the Civil Rights Luncheon at the 2024 Legislative Conference.

Questions? Please contact Women’s and Fair Practices Departments Program Coordinator Matthew Uchaker at [email protected].

In Solidarity,

Jeremy A. Lannan
