John,
After the last government funding bill passed, Republicans in the House ousted their Speaker, then spent 3 weeks elevating an anti-Social Security extremist. They’re not going to pass another continuing resolution without making Democrats pay a price.
We need to hold our champions together and make it clear to Congress: A vote for a so-called ‘fiscal commission’ is a vote to dismantle our Social Security system! Donate today!

John,
Joe Biden is the President, and his spokesman called a closed-door commission a “death panel for Medicare and Social Security.” And Democrats have a majority in the Senate. So, nothing to worry about, right?
Not so fast… Even with a Social Security champion in the White House, Republicans are practiced in demanding ransoms.
The government is only funded until mid-January. The House Republican caucus is fractured―but united on cutting Social Security. And the Senate majority includes Kyrsten Sinema and Joe Manchin, who have both demonstrated a willingness to team up with Republicans to harm Americans.
House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington has already indicated a desire to make government funding contingent on creating a closed-door commission, hoping to force the Democrats’ hands.
The best way to stop a closed-door commission is before it meets. Donate $7 today to send a clear message: A vote for a so-called ‘fiscal commission’ is a vote to cut Social Security!
Let’s be extremely clear about a few things:
-
Social Security and Medicare are fully funded by contributions that working Americans make with every paycheck. They do not add a penny to the federal deficit.
-
Republicans have floated raising the retirement age to 70―which would amount to a 21% across-the-board benefit cut.
-
There are plans in the House and the Senate that would secure Social Security’s financing well into the future. But ZERO Republicans have signed on.
Social Security Works was founded to fight fast-track commissions created after the Great Recession. If Republicans force the creation of another one, we will beat it, just like we did in 2010. But the best way to stop a commission is before it’s created. This is our moment to hold Congress accountable.
Donate today to send a message: A vote for a so-called ‘fiscal commission’ is a vote to cut Social Security!
Thanks,
Michael Phelan
