John, one of the things I love most about December holidays is the spirit that seems to infect everyone. As Fred from A Christmas Carol describes it: "a good time, a kind, forgiving, charitable, pleasant time" of year.

In that charitable spirit, I want to encourage you to support a charity near and dear to my heart as a veteran – the Wounded Warrior Project (WWP).

WWP is particularly meaningful to me because they were founded in 2003 as a grassroots effort to provide care and comfort to service members returning from the conflicts in Afghanistan and Iraq. Their mission is to foster the most successful, well-adjusted generation of wounded service members in our nation's history.

What they have undertaken is no small feat – it's estimated that over 53,000 service members were wounded in action during the Afghanistan and Iraq conflicts.

And that's not just physical injuries. For too long, veterans didn't even have a way to talk about the invisible wounds we experience like post traumatic stress, brain trauma, and depression.

Wounded Warrior Project provides service for the whole veteran, not just one part of us. Their services include career and VA benefits counseling, physical wellness, mental wellness, and simply reminding us that we are not alone.

So John, as you're celebrating the season of giving, I hope you'll join me by including Wounded Warrior Project in the list of places you donate.
