Hello from the State Capitol,
?
The era of double-digit billion-dollar budget surpluses have come to a screeching halt thanks to the irresponsible governing of Minnesota?s Democrats.
?
On December 6, Minnesota?s economic experts unveiled their latest state revenue and spending projections. According to their data, Minnesota will see a $2.3 billion budget deficit in the next budget cycle. Democrats? insatiable appetite to waste your money on state government programs is the reason for the projected future economic downturn.
?
Thanks to Democrat mismanagement, we?re on the brink of a fiscal mess. Common sense would say you can?t blow through a $20 billion budget surplus and a $10 billion tax increase and expect incoming revenue to keep pace, yet that?s exactly what Democrats did last session.
?
According to documents released by MMB, Minnesota is now projected to see a $2.3 billion budget deficit in Fiscal Year 2026-27. Higher estimates in health and human services and education raise the total state spending, resulting in the projected future deficit.
?
Far too much attention is being given to a $2.4 billion budget surplus for the current biennium. If you take into account the $2.3 billion deficit projected for the next budget cycle, there?s really no current surplus at all.
?
State spending has increased by 40 percent under all-Democrat control of Minnesota?s government. Soon, Minnesotans will be paying the price for their unnecessary spending spree.
?
Talk to you soon,
?
Greg
