I’m Kate Howard, and I oversee the Reveal Reporting Network. It supports small and local newsrooms with free investigative resources and building blocks for strong local investigations. Dozens of newsrooms have told stories about their local communities that were sparked by the network.

Journalism is a public service, and at Reveal, we believe that our service extends to newsrooms throughout the country. Local journalists can use our data to breathe new life into our work and provoke change in cities and towns we otherwise wouldn’t be able to reach. This work takes time and money, and we’ve been able to do it because of the generosity of our listeners, viewers and readers.

It’s a scary time to work in journalism. We work with newsrooms with shrinking revenue and disappearing resources, and our own newsroom hasn’t been immune. This is happening at a time when the need for our rigorous investigative journalism has only increased.
