Dear John,

The American Friends Service Committee was founded by Quaker conscientious objectors in 1917 to show the world what love can do. They served in countless ways, with a deep commitment to nonviolence. And when the world wars ended, they continued their worldwide work for peace while joining movements for civil rights, immigrant rights, workers’ rights, and more. Today our global community of donors, advocates, organizers, partners, and volunteers help uphold that legacy.

We hope you enjoy this video celebrating the difference we are making together. [link removed]

When a devastating earthquake struck Turkey and Syria in February, millions of survivors were left without adequate food or shelter. Our team delivered tents and food packages, supported search and rescue operations, installed working bathrooms, and established mobile health clinics.

As the war in Ukraine entered its second year, we worked with partners in Europe to assist displaced people. Families accessed emergency aid and temporary housing. Refugee children were able to attend school.

With many families throughout the U.S. losing access to vital benefits, hundreds of our supporters joined us in successfully advocating for more children to be eligible for free school lunch. We also pushed for a Farm Bill that reduces hunger and addresses climate change. And we supported local initiatives in New Mexico, California, and other states to build a food system that prioritizes sustainability and fair working conditions.

Today we are mobilizing to provide aid in Gaza, where more than a million people have been displaced and lack access to essential supplies.

These are just a few of the many efforts made possible through the generous support of the AFSC community. Watch the video to learn more. [link removed]

Thank you for all the ways you join us in working for a more peaceful, just, and sustainable world.

In peace,

Your friends at AFSC
