Often, discussions on the concept of religious freedom focus on creating interfaith dialogue. However, a full understanding of religious freedom and its importance to democracy encompasses the very real social and political impacts of religious majoritarianism, a view that dismisses minority protection and elevates the beliefs of only the majority.

In order to push back against threats to religious freedom, it is crucial for community-based civil society organizations to advocate for more inclusive societies in which all—majority and minority group members—have equal rights.

Internet freedom in Russia continued to plummet during the coverage period, as the government implemented even more restrictive laws to control the information space and sought to eliminate criticism of the full-scale military invasion of Ukraine.
