Hi friend,

I wanted to take a quick pause from the campaign trail to update you on what we're up to. My team and I are working around the clock to make sure make sure California's 30th Congressional District gets a new leader in Washington next fall who will fight for our communities on the issues that matter most:

• Housing
• Mental health care
• Workers and union rights
• Protecting our most vulnerable communities 

Friend, I'm running for Congress because I know we need to do so much more for our community. Too many politicians in this state run around bragging about their successes while people are still struggling, and during the holidays this dark contrast between our leaders and our community could not be more prevalent. 

I'm running for Congress because it breaks my heart to hear these stories. In the richest country and richest state in the world, there are no excuses for forcing poverty onto our fellow Californians. 

We can do better, and in Congress, I will do better. That's what this race is all about to me.
