More money from millionaires and billionaires is infiltrating our elections to undermine our progressive movement, John.
This week, Democratic mega-donor and billionaire co-founder of LinkedIn, Reid Hoffman, just donated $250,000 to a super PAC supporting Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley.
This is the same guy funding Mainstream Democrats PAC, which is recruiting candidates to challenge Cori Bush and Rashida Tlaib in their Democratic primaries for standing up for Palestinians’ human rights.
Jan Koum, co-founder of WhatsApp, also gave Haley’s super PAC $5 million this week. In the 2022 cycle, he donated $2 million and was the largest individual donor to AIPAC, the group that endorsed more than one hundred Republican insurrectionists and plans to spend $100 million against the Squad in 2024.
We shouldn’t allow these GOP mega-donors to have a say in our Democratic primaries.
We elected our Squad of young, working-class, Black and brown progressives through grassroots donations from folks like you, and that’s how we’re going to defend them from these attacks next year.
Thank you,
Geoff Simpson
