Hello John,

On Sunday, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson attempted to raise money for his campaign by attacking and shaming our nation’s LGBTQ+ youth.

In the fundraising email, Johnson asks, “Does America need more God?” and writes, “1 in 4 high school students identifies as something other than straight — what are they being taught in school?”

It is reprehensible to watch the person second in line to the presidency use lies, shame and fear to raise money for his campaign. Rather than addressing urgent problems and tragedies, Speaker Johnson is using his time and power to shame children.

It is beyond irresponsible. It is sick.

Rise up for young people and fight back against this hate.

Every young person in this country is deserving of dignity. Every single one. Without exception.

By trying to force LGBTQ+ people, especially young people, back into the closet, Speaker Johnson is perpetuating harmful systems of oppression.

We need your help today.

A donation to GLSEN can combat the vitriol from Speaker Johnson’s administration by providing resources and tools to LGBTQ+ students across the country.

GLSEN has been advocating and working with and for LGBTQ+ youth to make our nation’s education systems more inclusive for ALL students.

DONATE TO GLSEN AND TELL SPEAKER JOHNSON OUR YOUTH DESERVE BETTER.

In Solidarity,
