John, in this final edition of Full Circle Stories, we’re sharing the inspiring story of a mother who brought her daughter to a Save the Children program and now works with us to create brighter futures for even more children.
Kateryna,* a psychologist, fled Ukraine after witnessing the horrific realities of war and the fear on her daughter's face. 10-year-old Maria* heard the sound of too many missiles and had seen too many other children wounded.
When they arrived in Lithuania, Maria found support at a Save the Children day center. Once staff learned of Kateryna’s background in mental health, they invited her to volunteer. Eventually, they offered her a job as a psychologist in the center, where she now helps children confront their trauma and learn to understand and express their emotions.
As children face life-threatening violence, hunger and disease in Ukraine, Gaza, Syria, Yemen, Sudan and many more places around the world, providing both physical and psychological support is so important, John. Together, we can help them overcome unimaginable hardships and have hope for a brighter future.
Thank you for everything you do to create better, brighter futures for children around the world.
