In 2009, more than 45 million people in America did not have health insurance. Without insurance, an accident or unexpected illness could bankrupt a family — causing severe financial burden on top of being unwell.
Last year, thanks to more than a decade of the Affordable Care Act being the law of the land, that number was cut nearly in half, down to 26 million. And people across the country now have the opportunity to live healthier, happier, fuller lives because of it.
Now, Trump and his Republican cronies are ready to wage war on the Affordable Care Act again. In fact, several of my Republican opponents have expressed support for a full repeal of the law.
This would gut protections for 1.3 million Virginians with pre-existing conditions, and put nearly 700,000 Virginians at risk of losing their health insurance.
And all for a political stunt.
I’m not going to let that happen, friends.
The stakes in this race grow higher and higher every day: Voting rights are on the ballot. Reproductive freedom is on the ballot. Economic growth is on the ballot.
And now, the Affordable Care Act is on the ballot.
We know Republicans are going to throw every dollar they’ve got at taking back the Senate, and our race in Virginia is a true battleground. So today, will you make a contribution to my campaign?
