Citizens, including children, assess the destruction caused by air strikes in Gaza.

John, ongoing violence, bombardment and blockade have led to catastrophic humanitarian suffering and loss of life throughout Gaza.

This conflict's humanitarian impact is unacceptable, with civilians and children bearing the brunt.

The situation is horrific, but we are not without hope. Here's an insight to the IRC's response:

The IRC is responding to the crisis in Gaza, supporting dedicated partners providing essential health, medical and psychosocial services - and education and emergency relief items such as food and winter clothing.

This includes essential medicines, medical supplies and expertise on public health in emergency situations.

The IRC is also planning to deploy an emergency health team, in collaboration with a partner, into Gaza in support of urgent medical and public health needs at hospitals, if conditions allow.

Right now, my colleagues are on the ground in Egypt, making provision for the IRC to be able to contribute to the pipeline of aid that is slowly ramping up. We have secured a first shipment of $250,000 worth of medical supplies and we aim to scale that up in the coming days.

Since the 7-day humanitarian truce between Israel and Hamas ended on December 1, widespread bombardment has resumed in Gaza putting the lives of hundreds of thousands at risk. Already, more than 1,200 Palestinians have been killed and thousands injured since the restart of the conflict.

In Gaza, no one is safe. That's why we at the IRC are calling for a lasting ceasefire which protects civilians from harm, enables the release of all hostages, and allows for a step-change in the assistance provided to people across the whole of Gaza.

Please, rush an emergency donation for children and families in Gaza and in crisis zones worldwide: [link removed]
