Be Aware of Holiday Scams
|
Pennsylvania’s Attorney General recently issued a warning to Pennsylvanians about scams that typically ramp up during holiday season and how to protect yourself and your personal information from being stolen. The most common scams include email and text phishing, delivery stealing, and credit card skimming. The AG’s office recommends setting up email or text alerts from your credit card company or bank, so you’re alerted to all purchases made. Never open any text or emails from unknown senders and don’t click on links sent to you from unknown addresses. It is also recommended to never use your home’s smart device like Alexa, Siri, or Google Home to find a customer support number for any company.
Anyone who believes they may have been scammed should file a police report and file a complaint with the Pennsylvania Office of Attorney General on their website, emailing [email protected], or by calling 1-800-441-2555.
