Podcast guest host Ron Leix is the deputy public information officer for the Michigan Department of Treasury. He serves as the Michigan Department of Treasury's spokesperson, covering topics that include state tax administration, collections, tax policy, local fiscal policy, state economy, student finances, state and authority finances and state retirement system investments. Previously, he served as the state of Michigan?s emergency management and homeland security spokesperson at the Michigan State Police. Ron is a graduate of the University of Michigan-Flint and Michigan State University. He anticipates graduating from Northern Michigan University in May 2024 with his master?s degree in public administration.

Sarah Rusnell

Sarah Rusnell is outreach manager for the Office of Operational Excellence at Michigan Department of Treasury. Sarah has been with Treasury since 2013 and has a Bachelor of Communication Arts and Sciences degree from Michigan State University. In her time with Treasury, Sarah has specialized in communication projects, worked extensively with many Michigan taxes, developed and designed Michigan Treasury Online (MTO), and spearheaded taxpayer education programs. Her work area is responsible for providing free tax education to the public, contributing to tax communication projects, and managing the Treasury Taxes website.
