Today, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) reintroduced the Clean Competition Act (CCA) in the Senate, with Representative Suzan DelBene (D-WA-1) introducing companion legislation in the House of Representatives. Dear Colleagues, Today, Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D-RI) reintroduced the Clean Competition Act (CCA) in the Senate, with Representative Suzan DelBene (D-WA-1) introducing companion legislation in the House of Representatives. The proposed legislation recognizes America’s Carbon Advantage as a tool to address global emissions from industrial sectors. Coming soon after the Republican-led Foreign Pollution Fee Act, it also presents an opportunity to chart a course toward a bipartisan breakthrough in U.S. climate policy. The bill text and other resources from Senator Whitehouse’s office can be found here, and the Council’s public statement on the bill can be found here. Additionally, if you are interested in the bill’s implications for the WTO, I encourage you to read my colleague Matt Porterfield’s new blog post.
