Two years after Democrats led a bipartisan coalition to pass the greatest infrastructure and public works legislation of our lifetimes, I think it is important to revisit just how much good has come from this effort.

But first, a reminder of what we were up against as we attempted to get the job done back in 2021:

That was from Politico back in the summer of 2021, and tells just about everything you need to know about the kind of opposition we faced.

We were up against Trump-style scare politics, through and through: threats, lies, and insinuation—with the promise of political repercussions if things did not go the way of Trump. So it is no surprise what came next:

That was from CNN . Trump went on to say that "All Republicans who voted for Democrat longevity should be ashamed of themselves" and insinuated severe political consequences.

Let that sink in: Trump was incensed that Democratic accomplishments and good work would lead to people supporting us on Election Day, and threatened each and every Republican who maybe, just maybe, wanted to be an honest partner in the rebuilding of our great nation.

Because that is exactly what we are doing: rebuilding America, piece by piece. A great nation invests in its own people, in their health, safety, and future. Good, green infrastructure is exactly that, with job creation, modernization of out-of-date roads and bridges, and planning for our future.
