11 years ago, a shooter with an assault weapon stole the lives of 20 children and 6 staff members at Sandy Hook Elementary.

Right now, hundreds of survivors and victims’ family members are on Capitol Hill for the 11th Annual National Vigil to mourn all victims of gun violence – and for the first time since the tragedy at Sandy Hook, Leader Schumer and Senate Democrats just led a historic vote on the Assault Weapons Ban.


This is a HUGE step forward for our movement but Republicans BLOCKED the Assault Weapons Ban and two other lifesaving gun safety bills on the Senate Floor.

It’s never been more clear that Republicans serve only the gun lobby. That’s why we must elect more Democrats in 2024 and expand our Senate Majority so we can finish the job and pass these lifesaving bills.


Here’s the plan: We’re going to kick these cowards out of office and replace them with champions who will work tirelessly to ensure no one has to lose their life to gun violence again. It’s truly devastating.

Over 1.1 million Americans have been killed or injured by guns since the Sandy Hook shooting.

That’s nearly 275 Americans directly impacted by gun violence every single DAY.

Every moment that we wait, the lives of HUNDREDS of children, siblings, and parents are at risk.
 
Meanwhile, gun-lobby-backed lawmakers continue to BLOCK lifesaving legislation, like the assault weapons ban, and sell out our communities' safety for a quick buck.


This is as high stakes as it gets. We will NOT stop until a federal assault weapons ban is reinstated. But our Democratic Senate Majority is too narrow to get it done. We must elect more Democrats in this upcoming election, expand our Senate Majority, and reclaim the House Majority for Democrats.
