Thirteen years ago, I helped President Barack Obama draft the Affordable Care Act (ACA). I was proud when he signed it into law, providing millions of Americans – many for the very first time – access to quality, affordable health coverage. Today, consumers enjoy protections against the health insurance industry’s worst historical practices, including annual and lifetime limits on coverage and denial of coverage due to pre-existing health conditions.

The ACA has helped millions of Americans access health care. Now, Donald Trump is saying he’ll try to end the ACA if he wins the 2024 election. We have to make sure he never gets that chance.

I have always been keenly aware of the real and devastating consequences issues with healthcare accessibility have on the American people. If our country is going to make meaningful progress in healthcare, taking back the House in 2024 and electing President Joe Biden is critical.
