Dear John, As the anticipation of election season escalates with every passing day, immigration remains one of the most politicized and polarizing issues facing our country.
Candidates compete for how quickly they would close the border. Disinformation designed to create fear around immigrant communities is nearly constant. And with millions trapped across the country by our outdated immigration system, unable to find housing or unite with loved ones — the cost is real.
That is why the American Immigration Council is fighting to strengthen the nation by shaping immigration policies and law everywhere we can — from the courthouse to the media, from Capitol Hill to state houses and chambers of commerce — from Kentucky to California and back again.
And we are determined to fight as hard as we can for our immigrant communities throughout the 2024 election year. That is why we have set an ambitious goal to raise $130,000 by December 31 — and why a group of generous donors has pledged to DOUBLE every gift until we reach our goal. Donate today! |
Our goal of a just immigration system and welcoming nation can sometimes feel distant. But every day, when I stop by a colleague’s office or hop onto another Zoom call, I am heartened by all the progress we are making.
And I see progress in every area the Council touches, from legal services, advocacy, and litigation to our efforts to fight disinformation through rigorous research, independent journalism, media outreach, and transparency efforts.
Please make your tax-deductible, year end gift now, and your support will be matched $1 for $1, going TWICE as far to support our work to:
-
Advocate at the national, state, and community levels for stronger policies and laws with policymakers, business communities, and civic leaders throughout the country.
-
Take direct legal action to address some of the biggest wrongs in our immigration system, including by suing the Biden administration over unacceptable processing delays and challenging Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ new anti-immigrant law.
-
Conduct rigorous research and collect the immigrant stories we need to truly understand the issues and challenges at play for immigrant communities, and educate policymakers and the public.
- Counter disinformation and humanize the public debate through media outreach, publishing and contributing to thousands of media stories every year.
- Pursue our commitment to legal support, including goals to increase access to legal representation for asylum seekers, streamline immigration hearings, and reduce federal costs for each case.
Help the Council continue our critical work, and remember — everything that we do is in service of supporting immigrants, whose lives are impacted every day by the problems of our immigration system and rhetoric of our politicians.
We are determined to reach our ambitious $130,000 goal by December 31 and step into 2024 from a position of strength. Please, donate today and your gift will be DOUBLED.
In gratitude, Jeremy Robbins Executive Director |
