For many, December is a time when things slow down. But for us, we are still nonstop. This time of year is crucial for us as we gear up for fundraising, strategy sessions, legislative prep, and growth.
As we begin this month, I’m excited to share a few quick updates from Frontline:
An Update on Special Session
As you may know, Georgia is in the midst of a special session to redraw districts as mandated by an Obama appointed judge. Every day, our Policy Team has been meeting with legislators, touting our agenda, and building support. Additionally, our Church Ambassador Network team has also been pointing legislators to biblical truth, ministering to them, and discussing God’s calling for them in their roles.
Here are a few pictures and videos from our time at the Capitol:
While we have used Special Session to connect on key Frontline issues, the reason the General Assembly is there is to redraw lines. Many predicted that this would be a major shift toward Democrats.
However, it looks like the partisan balance will remain largely the same. While the boundaries are moving, the Congressional and State Senate R-to-D ratio appears unchanged. Republicans will likely lose just a couple of seats in the State House, and maintain their majority in the Senate.
For many of you, your legislators will change so be sure to follow up to make sure you know who is representing you and your family.
Nearly 60 Democrats Refuse to Vote to Condemn Hamas
In a critical move during Special Session, the Georgia General Assembly considered a resolution to unequivocally condemn Hamas, recognized as a terrorist organization, and to extend unwavering support to Israel. This resolution, grounded in a commitment to global security and peace, rightly identified the threats posed by Hamas and aligned with a clear stance against terrorism.
However, the resolution's expectation for universal support encountered a surprising turn as 60 Democrats in the assembly refrained from voting in its favor. This decision, which raises serious questions about their stance on terrorism and support for a key ally, has been met with strong responses. Governor Brian Kemp's political apparatus has already pledged to make voters aware of this concerning decision. We echo this commitment and will work tirelessly to ensure that voters are fully informed about the implications of not supporting such a critical resolution. Our stance is clear: we stand firmly with Israel and against the threats posed by organizations like Hamas.
Cole Muzio Awarded Civic Leader of the Year
The Conservative Republican Women of North Atlanta (CRWNA), a group of Christian women dedicated to advocating for conservative issues and a valuable ally of Frontline, recently held their annual Christmas event. During this gathering, they presented the Civic Leader of the Year Award, a prestigious recognition for outstanding contributions to Georgia politics and the promotion of Biblical values.
This year, the award was given to our President, Cole Muzio, in acknowledgment of his significant impact in these areas. Muzio's dedication to upholding and spreading faith-based principles, coupled with his political insight, aligns with the mission of CRWNA and has been instrumental in advancing conservative causes across the state. His leadership and commitment to these values have made him a deserving recipient of this honor.
Prayer with Governor DeSantis
Last week in Alpharetta, Georgia, viewers witnessed a compelling confrontation between two starkly different leaders: Florida's Governor Ron DeSantis and California's Governor Gavin Newsom. In this debate, Governor DeSantis firmly demonstrated his successful leadership in keeping Florida prosperous and open, contrasting sharply with Governor Newsom who struggled to defend his record and policies.
Adding to the significance of the event, our President Cole Muzio was honored to be asked to pray over Governor and First Lady DeSantis, a moment that not only welcomed them to Georgia but also underscored the strong support and respect we hold for Governor DeSantis's principled leadership in Florida.
