John,

From the frontlines, I've seen firsthand what lack of access to routine preventative healthcare means for Americans, and I’m determined to find solutions. Before I share my plan, I’m asking for your help with a donation to my campaign >>

It is tragic that healthcare is still out of reach for the millions of uninsured. In Texas, our healthcare outcomes are some of the worst in the nation. In 2021, nearly 20% of Texans were uninsured, and Texas children were more than twice as likely as children in other states to be uninsured. Texas also ranks #49 in the nation for women’s healthcare.

Texans deserve better. That's why in Congress, I will fight to:

  • Offer a public option for health insurance so Americans will have expanded access and more choices in the Marketplace.
  • Lower prescription drug costs. For those lucky enough to see a doctor, there is still the burden of prescription drug costs. We must cap the cost of insulin for all Americans at $35 per month, and hold drug companies accountable by putting patients over profits.
  • Incentivize research and development of Orphan Drugs. Far too many parents watch their children suffer with rare conditions for which treatments are unavailable or way too expensive. There’s more we can do to ensure that pharmaceutical companies continue to research treatments and cures for rare conditions and that those treatments are fairly priced. I will fight for expanded resources for Orphan Drug research and work to increase awareness and support of this vital program in Washington.
  • Fight for expanding Medicaid and support legislation to encourage state legislators to change course in favor of helping millions of Texans to receive the coverage they need.
  • Increase transparency for patients in the healthcare system. Insurance companies and corporate hospital systems have made it virtually impossible to get straightforward answers on what patients might pay out of pocket — so they can make more money at Texans’ expense. We must pass reforms that get Texans the information they deserve when emergencies strike.
  • Ensure women have the right to make decisions about their health — without the interference of politicians. In Congress, I will vote to re-establish and protect the right to an abortion nationwide. I will also defend the right to birth control and oppose medically unnecessary requirements on abortion providers.
This isn't just a list to me — these are tangible, research-driven goals that will help us create a Texas that can thrive. In 2022, I worked with Democratic leaders in Washington on legislation to allow Medicare to negotiate drug prices, improve diversity in clinical trials, and increase accessibility to affordable healthcare. I also worked on federal legislation related to mental health reform, reproductive rights, Medicare, Medicaid, and more. I am more than ready to commit to this work as your Congressman for TX-32.

But I can only do that if our campaign has the resources to win next November. This campaign is a team effort, and we need all of our supporters to chip in where they can. That’s why I hope today you’ll make a donation of $5 or whatever you can afford >>
