Seven days, John.
That’s how long Palestinian civilians in Gaza were given to tend to their wounded, bury their dead, and sleep without the sound of bombs.
Now, Israel has renewed its assault on Gaza, warning residents sheltering in the south — which had previously been declared a ‘safe zone’ — to evacuate, and driving up the death toll with aerial attacks on densely populated neighborhoods.1
As calls for a permanent ceasefire grow in Congress, we need the Biden Administration to show leadership and use all its influence to end this assault and siege and work towards the release of more hostages and lasting peace in the region.
As soon as this week, the Senate could vote on a bill that would send $14 billion in taxpayer money and US-made weapons to support Israel’s bombing of Gaza. Join tomorrow’s virtual phone bank at 3 PM ET/12 PM PT to help voters reach their Senators and urge them to call for a permanent ceasefire and no more unconditional U.S. funding for the war in Gaza.

The attacks by Hamas on October 7th were horrific, John. But Israel's campaign of collective punishment in response has no clear strategic rationale.
It will not ensure security or peace for anyone in the region — it will only guarantee that violence persists, and the death toll climbs.
With the renewed aggression in Gaza, and as Israeli forces quietly ramp up aggression in the occupied West Bank2, we must — and we will — keep pushing for a permanent ceasefire.
With enough pressure, we can get the U.S. government to use its leverage to stop Israel's assault on civilians, secure the return of the remaining Israeli hostages, prevent the escalation of this conflict into a regional war, and save the lives of thousands of Palestinians and Israelis alike.
Our calls, emails, and protests are working. At least 60 members of Congress are now calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, but we need more to join the call — and reject the $14 billion in military funding for the war in Gaza.
Join our phone bank tomorrow, Wednesday, December 6th at 3PM ET/12 PM PT to urge your senator to vote NO on sending more U.S. bombs and missiles to the Israeli military.
