Hey team - we wanted to give you an update on Senator Murphy’s reelection.

So first, here’s the good news: We’ve built one of the strongest people-powered campaigns in the Senate. Chris counts himself lucky among his colleagues. Rather than give into the broken status quo of political fundraising, he pledged to focus on the work he was elected to do and reject all corporate and PAC money. A LOT of people like you backed Chris’ approach with a small contribution to send a message that this is how politics should work.

But that doesn’t come without risks or challenges.

So here’s the bad news: November was the slowest month for fundraising since Chris launched his reelection campaign earlier this year. We get that it’s a busy time of year, but our success is directly tied to the response we get to emails like this one.

If people see our numbers fall too much, people might question whether a grassroots fundraising model really works. It could reinforce the power of big money and special interests — setting back our efforts to shift power to working people.

So here’s the truth: the number of donations we receive is just as important as what we raise. What we need to show to our opponents, and the special interests in Washington, is that Chris has a huge depth of grassroots support. That’s why we need to ask:
