Hello John -
This past weekend, there was a seasonal shift in Ely and throughout the Boundary Waters. The sheen of fresh, “wild ice” glitters under the night sky, creating a mesmerizing spectacle, especially when the Northern Lights put on a show multiple nights in a row.
The change in seasons brings a fresh perspective on the beauty and importance of this Wilderness. It's a reminder of the urgent need to protect and preserve our natural spaces. Did you know that the Superior National Forest, which contains the Boundary Waters, is one of the fastest-warming forests in the U.S.?
And right now, proponents of toxic copper mining are pushing to create an industrial mining zone in the headwaters of the Boundary Waters that would only exacerbate climate change issues. This would be an ecological disaster.
Now more than ever, we need your help to protect this precious ecosystem.
And here's a bit of exciting news - Patagonia's Holdfast Collective has pledged to match every donation we receive dollar-for-dollar! Plus, if you donate by midnight tonight, we will send you a limited edition Northern Lights Boundary Waters sticker as a token of our gratitude.
