Rep. John Larson likes to say he’s the proud product of public housing, public education, and public service. His dedication to fighting for working class families, seniors, and small businesses runs as deep as his roots growing up in East Hartford.
His commitment to working families has been evident since his first days in elected office. Rep. Larson authored and passed the first Family Medical Leave act in the nation during his time in the state senate, and today he continues to lead in Congress on working family initiatives.
Rep. Larson serves on the influential House Ways and Means Committee and as Ranking Member of the Social Security Subcommittee. He has been recognized as Social Security’s #1 champion in Congress and has led Democratic efforts to defend the program from Republican cuts. His widely supported Social Security plan would not only protect earned benefits for decades to come, but it would also enhance benefits for the first time in over 50 years.
While extreme Republicans in Congress continue on a path of conspiracies and chaos, Rep. Larson remains focused on the kitchen table issues affecting seniors and working families. He is working tirelessly to build a brighter future for the First Congressional District, Connecticut, and our nation.
