keeping you up to date on all things Northeast Wisconsin The November NEWsflash Friend, Welcome back to the November edition of The NEWsflash, a collection of stories and happenings from Northeast Wisconsin over the past month. The month of November included celebrations honoring local veterans throughout NEW and reminded us of the sacrifices they made to keep us free. I've included some photos and highlights from a few of the events my team and I were able to attend. You can also find information on how my office can help you with any federal problem you may have. As always, please don't hesitate to contact my office if we can ever be of assistance. Semper Fi, Celebrating Veterans Day: I joined Primrose Retirement Community in Appleton to attend their Veterans Day breakfast and program honoring local veterans. Throughout the morning, veterans from each branch of the military enjoyed breakfast with friends and family members and shared stories about their time in the service. I extend my sincerest thank you to all of our veterans for the sacrifices they have made to keep us free. Breaking Ground: On November 2, a member of my team traveled to Keshena to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony of Menomini yoU, Inc., a grassroots initiative created to revitalize the Menomini Language. The new 10,0000 square-foot language campus will include classrooms and meeting and event spaces for students, staff, and community members. Congratulations to the Menomini yoU team and the entire community on this new addition! World War I Purple Heart: The Fox Valley Veteran Council held their Veterans Day ceremony at the Outagamie County Courthouse. HQ 2-127 INF Army National Guard Major Eric Van Hout presented a Purple Heart to the family of George Cornelius Arts, a World War I veteran. Constituent Michael Muthig initially reached out to my office, and I was happy to help obtain the medal his grandfather had earned in service. LYNC'ing Communities: On November 14, a member of my staff joined LYNC Academy founder, Meredith Bieri, teachers, and community members to celebrate the opening of their second location in downtown Kaukauna. LYNC Academy also has a location in Green Bay and is a DPI private school with state licensed social workers and educators. Congratulations to Meredith and the entire LYNC Academy staff on the opening of their new location! Celebrating Milestones: A member of my staff attended the 10-year anniversary of Lower Fox Demonstrations Farms. Fox Demo Farms was created through a collaboration agreement with USDA, Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Brown County, and four producers in the Lower Fox River Watershed of NEW and was funded by the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI). During the event, a member of my staff also presented an entry into the Congressional Record in recognition of this milestone. The document reflects the official proceedings of Congress. Elevate ATW: This month, a member of my team attended the groundbreaking event for the 47,000 square-foot expansion at the Appleton International Airport (ATW). The first expansion phase to the main concourse will include expanded gate areas, restroom facilities, a connector between existing and new gates, and much more. The project is scheduled to be completed in 2025. Congratulations to the entire ATW team on this expansion! Recognizing Service: On November 10, the 18th Annual Chancellor's Reception was held at the UW-Green Bay STEM Innovation Center. During this event, current students who are active-duty military, reserves, or the spouses and children of veterans were recognized for their service. Servicemembers and their families heard from UW-Green Bay Chancellor Mike Alexander and UW-Green Bay Veteran Services Coordinator, Nicole Stockman. Thank you to the military men and women and their families for their service and sacrifice. One-Year Celebration: This month, a member of my staff attended the first anniversary for The Joint Chiropractic located in Green Bay. Following one year at its location on Oneida Street, Joint Chiropractic has continued to serve the community by providing pain relief and preventative care. I congratulate the entire Joint Chiropractic team on their first anniversary and wish them continued success!
