Youngkin: China Should Not Own Land in Virginia

ICYMI: Governor Glenn Youngkin, along with 16 Republican governors from across
the country, called on

the Biden Administration to prevent adversaries like China from buying
American land.

In a letter to Joe Biden, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen, and Congressional
leaders, Youngkin and his fellow governors write that “national security
demands a national response from national leaders. The responsibility is now
with you – follow the lead of our States and prevent CCP amassing of American
lands."

As Fox News reports, the Republican governors write in the letter that
"states have stepped into the breach to protect this country’s most valued
resource" – the American people – while Biden "has failed to address the threat
at hand."

Since the day he took office, Youngkin has taken decisive action to protect
Virginia from the Chinese Communist Party.

Youngkin used his State of the Commonwealth address
<[link removed]>
to highlight the “ever-growing threat that the Chinese Communist Party poses
to our national security, our privacy and our way of life in Virginia” and
proposed concrete solutions to combat this threat.

Youngkin already signed legislation into law

banning China from buying farmland in Virginia.

Youngkin also issued an executive order
<[link removed]>
banning TikTok on state devices.

“TikTok and WeChat data are a channel to the Chinese Communist Party, and
their continued presence represents a threat to national security, the
intelligence community, and the personal privacy of every single American,”
Youngkin said when he issued the executive order.

And most recently, Youngkin halted a proposed battery plant from coming to
Virginia over concerns the operation would serve as a “Trojan horse” for the
Chinese Community Party.

“This is using taxpayer money to further enrich a Chinese company at the
expense of America. It’s just not happening in America,” Youngkin said
<[link removed]>
at the time. “This should be an American supply chain that’s trusted, not one
that’s outsourced to the Chinese Communist Party.”

Youngkin's concerns about these ties to the CCP were echoed by Republicans in
the U.S. House of Representatives, who launched an investigation
<[link removed]>
in September into the operation over its ties to China.

As Fox News reported at the time, Youngkin first raised opposition to the
plant over China's potential influence and argued that "the Chinese Communist
Party would have full operational control over the technology."

The letter to the Biden Administration regarding China’s purchase of
agricultural land is just the latest step Youngkin has taken to protect
Virginians from the Chinese government.

Youngkin remains committed to standing strong against the CCP and any foreign
adversary that seeks to threaten the Commonwealth.
