Dear John,
It is with great pleasure and anticipation that I write to officially welcome Marisa Calderon as the newly appointed president and CEO of Prosperity Now. On behalf of the Board of Directors, staff, and the entire community, we extend our warmest greetings to Marisa as she takes the helm of our organization in January 2024.
As the Board Chair, I had the privilege of witnessing firsthand the thorough and extensive nationwide search for a leader who embodies the dedication, experience, and passion required to advance Prosperity Now's mission. Marisa emerged as the ideal candidate, consistently demonstrating her ability to pave the way for a just economy with opportunities for all.
Marisa Calderon [[link removed]] brings an impressive wealth of experience and leadership to Prosperity Now. Her comprehensive background, particularly in the housing and financial services industries, coupled with her track record in advancing racial and ethnic economic equity, makes her an exceptional choice to lead our organization at this critical juncture.
Most recently, Marisa Calderon served as the executive director at the NCRC Community Development Fund (NCRC CDF) and as chief of community finance and mobility at the NCRC CDF’s parent company, the National Community Reinvestment Coalition (NCRC). Under her leadership, NCRC CDF was recognized by Fast Company on its 2022 list of the World’s Most Innovative Companies for rapid, responsible deployment of millions of dollars of capital to underserved entrepreneurs.
We are grateful to Cherie Collins Sims, PhD., our interim president and CEO, who will steadily lead us in closing out 2023. And in the new year, as we begin Prosperity Now’s 45th anniversary, we are delighted to welcome Marisa Calderon at the helm.
Please join me in extending a warm welcome to Marisa Calderon as she takes on her new role as president and CEO on January 2, 2024. We look forward to a prosperous and impactful tenure under her leadership.
