Outside groups were pouring millions of dollars into her district in an effort to flip her seat, but she had an advantage: early money.

The cost of television ads skyrocketed as they got closer to Election Day, but luckily Elissa had started fundraising early, so she was able to buy her airtime much sooner than her opponent, before the price went up.

That meant she had more money to do things like canvassing, voter registration drives, and digital ads. But that was only possible because folks chipped in months and years before Election Day, and her team was able to craft an effective, long term strategy because of it.
