Dear Jack, |
Climate change is accelerating at an alarming rate, and the impacts are being felt throughout the coast redwood and giant sequoia ranges—as well as in our local communities. California should be rapidly investing to protect forests that sequester carbon and improve resilience to climate-driven wildfire. Save the Redwoods League has joined a broad coalition of conservation organizations calling on the Legislature to place a $15 billion climate bond on the 2024 ballot—and we need your voice.
Please send a note to your elected representatives today, asking them to support a $15 billion climate bond.
During this 2023 Legislative session, critical investments that lawmakers had made for natural resources and climate resilience were cut from the budget. The Governor and the Legislature committed to a bond to backfill and increase investments in these climate initiatives that were cut, but that has yet to materialize. All the while, climate change continues to take its toll. This is why we’re calling on the legislature to fulfill its commitment and responsibility to protect California from climate change, by passing a $15 billion climate resilience bond, including $700 million of critically needed funding for California State Parks. California voters deserve a chance to support vital action on climate change. |

Sincerely,
Save the Redwoods League
