Trump, echoing Nazi propaganda, called his political opponents “vermin”. Trump did this at a rally on Veterans Day. A day to honor Veterans who sacrificed to defend democracy. MAGA Rep. Kevin Hern has endorsed Trump, defended Trump, and modeled his political career after Trump. I’m running for Congress in Oklahoma’s 1st District to defeat Hern, stop Trump, and end the MAGA movement.
It’s not just words. Trump has a plan. The first step is to dehumanize his opponents. That’s why he says his opponents “live like vermin within the confines of our country”. That’s why he says he will “root them out”. He’s taking away our humanity. He’s stirring up political violence. He’s directing it against Americans.
Trump’s second step is to weaponize the federal government against his political enemies. Trump claimed without evidence that the 91 criminal charges he’s facing were made up to damage him politically. At a rally in October, Trump said, “This is third-world country stuff, ‘arrest your opponent,’ and that means I can do that, too.”
Trump’s third step is to reinstate his Schedule F order and convert as many as 50,000 federal civil service positions into political appointees. Public officials swear an oath to the Constitution. Trump wants them to swear an oath to him – just like Kevin Hern’s allegiance to Trump.
Trump already has some steps in place. He has Mike Johnson, organizer of the House MAGA Coup participants, in the Speaker’s chair. He has Hern, a MAGA Coup participant, ready to serve Trump rather than his country.
We shouldn’t have to be fighting to keep democracy in America. So many Veterans have already sacrificed for that - like my grandfather, killed in action while fighting with the U.S. Army in France. Our time should be spent addressing Oklahoma’s Top 10 poverty rate, its bottom-of-the-nation public education funding rate, or Oklahoma’s red state ban on women’s reproductive rights. Those issues will never be solved if Hern and Trump are in office. We’ll be spending every minute fighting to keep democracy alive.
Our campaign opposes Trump and his biggest enabler – Kevin Hern. Many of us do. We’re Trump’s political opponents. But we’re not “vermin”. We’re Americans fighting for what we believe is right. Our Constitution guarantees this right. Those are Oklahoma values and Oklahoma deserves a representative in Congress with Oklahoma values. With your support, we will win this election.
